The Compleat Angler began close to 50 years ago, when a group of committed fishermen got together with the aim of establishing a business where their collective buying power would afford them buying advantages over other independent fishing and tackle retailers. Over that time the Compleat Angler brand has been synonymous with the tackle industry.
The Compleat Angler was first published in 1653 by Izaak Walton & Charles Cotton. It is the most famous book ever published on the literature of the sport, being a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse.
“I envy no body but him, and him only, that catches more fish than I do.”
In 1985 a group of like-minded independent camping store owners joined together and formed a buying group. As the group grew the Camping World brand was launched. Camping World is the leading major independent brand in the Australian market.
